Rules of competition for subsidized flights approved in Kazakhstan

ASTANA. February 16. KAZINFORM In connection with the amendments to the existing legislation in the field of civil aviation, the new rules of competition for the subsidized air routes have been approved, the press service of the Kazakh Transport and Communications Ministry said.

"The Ministry approved the new rules of competition for the subsidized routes and issuing certificates for subsidized flights to provide services on transportation of passengers, baggage, cargo and mail," the press release reads.

Under the new rules, only airlines registered in Kazakhstan, having an operator certificate and complying with all safety requirements are able to participate in the competition. Also, the airline should be authorized to perform regular domestic commercial flights, priminister.kz informs.

In addition, the airline should not have arrears of taxes and other obligatory payments to the budget.

The competition is held once a year. It allows to determine what carriers will perform transportation of passengers, baggage and cargo on socially important routes.
