Romania President: Friendly attitude to ethnic communities in Kazakhstan - sign of democracy

AGANDA. March 3. KAZINFORM. /Valentina Yelizarova/ Friendly attitude to ethnic communities in Kazakhstan is a sign of democracy, President of Romania Traian Basescu said at the meeting with the Romanian Diaspora in Karaganda on March 3.

Making a visit to the city of Karaganda T. Basescu attended Spassky memorial complex, where he paid tribute to compatriots buried in the soil of Kazakhstan in 1941-1950 years. The President laid flowers to the memorial.

"Kazakhstan and Romania are linked with good economic and political relations. The presence of big Romanian community is of great interest here. It makes our relationship stronger", Mr. Basescu noted.

He thanked Kazakhstan's Government and local authorities for good attitude to the Romanians.

Akim of Karaganda region thanked the President of Romania for his visit and noted that Kazakhstan is a multinational state, where due to the policy of the President 140 nationalities live in peace and accord.

Presently, more than 3,500 ethnic Romanians reside in Karaganda region.
