Rocket launches from Baikonur to be a tourist spectacle
ASTANA. May 22. KAZINFORM - Akimat (administration) of Kyzylorda Region is considering the issue of admitting tourists to the space port in Kazakhstan to observe the launch of missiles.
This has been announced today by the deputy mayor of Kyzyl-Orda Natalia Godunova at a press conference on investment opportunities in the region at the VI Astana Economic Forum.
"At Cape Canaveral a launch is a huge event and gathers a lot of tourists. We want people to be able to see the launches from Baikonur, " said Natalia Godunov.
"Baikonur, of course, a sensitive site, but we are not talking about the presence of tourists on the launch site . Running can be seen far away, so we can develop the infrastructure arounf the city, not the complex itself. Today, we are waiting for proposals ", she added.
According to her the talks on tourism development will be carried out with well-known and large companies. In the Governor's office in the region they say that investment is needed for developing roads and roadside infrastructure, an airport, construction of modern hotels, as well as infrastructure related directly with the show starting, and planetarium. Local authorities are estimating the project in tens of millions (KZT).
