The sides discussed regional economic integration in the Eurasian space. Viktor Khristenko emphasized that the current objective of the Eurasian Economic Commission is the freedom of movement of goods, services, capital and workforce that should become a reality by 1 January 2015, the time when the Eurasian Economic Union becomes operational. The Eurasian Economic Commission plans to study the experience of the European Union and other organizations.

According to Viktor Khristenko, the globalization crisis prompted the countries to search for new growth points. In his words, the Eurasian project is a long-term strategic project aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of the economies of the Customs Union member states on the external market and their diversification. The single market of the Customs Union member states, just like the single market of the European Union where all the borders were removed, will become a driving force for the economies of the three countries. The removal of barriers on the internal market of the Customs Union has boosted the trade in non-raw materials. Thus, the integration effect is obvious; integration stimulates diversification of the Customs Union economies, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Viktor Khristenko said.
