Rising UFC star challenges Kazakhstani top welterweight contender
Irish UFC fighter Ian Garry (15-0) has challenged Kazakhstani Shavkat “Nomad” Rakhmonov (18-0), Kazinform News Agency cites Sports.kz.
Garry issued the challenge to No.3 ranked UFC welterweight Shavkat Rakhmonov in his Instagram page posting the following: “December 2024. Undefeated vs. Undefeated. Let's make it happen!". He included a photo of a face off with Rakhmonov.
“Nomad” has one of the most impressive records in the welterweight division at the moment. He has an unbeaten 18-0 MMA record that also includes wins over Neald and Magny as well as a win over former title challenger Stephen Thompson. According to foreign experts, the Kazakhstani fighter will have an opportunity to compete for the UFC welterweight title by the end of the year.
The Irishman has an unbeaten 15-0 MMA record. Of his wins, Garry has won seven via knockout, one via submission and another seven via decision.
