Results for the best EXPO sketch idea to be summarized in August
ASTANA. July 30. KAZINFORM In Astana reception of works is completed by the International architectural contest for the best sketch idea of the exposition complex EXPO 2017 and an object to become a symbol of the exhibition in Astana, as it was reported to astana.kz in the press service of JSC "National company "Astana EXPO 2017".
In total there were 50 applications for the contest, and companies from 20 countries of the world are among contestants: Austria, Australia, Great Britain, Germany, Spain, Italy, Canada, China, USA, Netherlands, Korea, Russia, Portugal, Norway, Turkey, Tunisia, Japan, France, Ukraine and Kazakhstan.
The contest works were presented by architects who have experience in designing EXPO exhibition complexes in the past: Zaha Hadid (Bridge for the Zaragoza EXPO-2008 exhibition), Stefano Boeri (Milan EXPO-2015), Nana Hernandez-Getashvili, who is the author of a pavillion project in Russia awarded with a silver medal for the best pavillion design (Zaragoza EXPO-2008).
Kazakh participants are represented by the City planners Union of Kazakhstan, project academy "KAZGOR", Timur Suleimenov from the Designers Union of Kazakhstan, workshop of the architect Saken Narynov from the Architects Union of Kazakhstan, LLP "Kazorkenproject" together with ENU "RI Ethnic architecture" and many others.
The winner of the contest will receive a prize of 150 000 US dollars. Over two weeks the contest works will be evaluated by the Technical Committee headed by Jeremy Rifkin, the Committee also includes renowned architects Eicke R Weber, materials sciences professor, Fraunhofer Institutefor Solar Energy Systems ISE; Marcel Volkerts, consultant of DNV KEMA company; Nuno Delgado, EFACEC company; Mario Aguiam, commercial council of ISQ department ; Thomas Kerwin, FAIA, LEED, AP; Dr Denis Patrick OMalley, AIA, LEED.
Among Kazakh specialists there will be A.Chakanaev, Honorary architect of the RoK, MAAM professor, the author of "Astana - architectural symphony of the steppe"; A.Kenzhetaeva, Honorary architect of the RoK, director of LLP "Astanagorproject", the author of entertainment complex "Duman", author of Movie and Concert hall "Kazakhstan"; S.Dzhambulatov, Honorary architect of the RoK, professor of the international Architecture academy; V.Siletsky, the chief architect of Astana; K.Mukashev, Honorary architect of the RoK, director of architecture and design department of JSC "NC "Astana EXPO-2017"; K.Tlemisov, Honorary builder of the RoK, council of the construction chairman in JSC "NC "Astana EXPO-2017"; A.Marat, the chief architect of projects, BA, MArch, representative of the architecture and design department of JSC "NC "Astana EXPO-2017".
From 12 to 16 of August after evaluation of the presented projects, in Astana a city exhibition of contest works will be organized in the exposition complex "Korme".
It's planned that on September 1, the results of the contest will be summarized and it'll ne known which one of the sketch ideas will be the main for the exhibition complex EXPO 2017.
