Reports about Belarus’ arms sales to terrorists false

MINSK. August 15. KAZINFORM Reports of some mass media that claim that Belarus has supplied weapons to Pakistan-based terrorist groups are totally out of touch with reality. The documents the authors refer to are forged, BelTA learned from representatives of the Center for Information and Public Relations of the State Security Committee (KGB) of Belarus.

State security bodies work within their area of competence to take consistent measures to counteract terrorism and extremism. Among other measures they work to prevent supplies of special gear to extremist and terrorist organizations and other illegal organizations.

The source stressed that Belarus’ system for controlling the export of dual-purpose technologies is fully compliant with resolutions of the UN Security Council and rules out any violations of international regulations on arms trade. The KGB is part of the system.

Acting in full compliance with Belarusian laws and international obligations, the KGB takes every measure to protect interests of the Republic of Belarus, BelTA has been told.
