Region’s development depends on the mutual work of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan – Head of State

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - President Nursultan Nazarbayev has held a meeting with President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov, who arrived in Kazakhstan on an official visit, Akorda reported.

At a meeting in a narrow format the two leaders discussed the implementation of agreements reached during the visit of President Nursultan Nazarbayev to Uzbekistan in June 2013. There were also discussed the priority areas of bilateral cooperation in economic, trade, water and energy, transport, cultural and humanitarian spheres. In addition, the parties talked about the key aspects of regional security, as well as the most pressing international issues. Nursultan Nazarbayev noted that Kazakhstan supports Uzbekistan in all its endeavors. "We intend to strengthen the friendship between the two countries, expand trade, develop relationships, including internal and external security. Our region's development depends on the mutual work of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan," he said. In turn, the President of Uzbekistan stressed the rapidly changing situation in the world. IslamKarimov said that in these circumstances, each country is looking for support. He also expressed his great respect for the Kazakh people.
