Somyos Prueksakasemsuk, leader of a "red-shirt" faction, June 24 Democracy Group first met with some supporters at Rama VI statue before moving on to the embassy.

The Japanese photographer with Reuters news agency, Huroyuki Muramoto, was shot dead while he was covering the clashes between troops and "red-shirt" protesters on April 10. There has been no clear evidence for who killed him yet.

The "red-shirt" group said they wanted to hand over the embassy the evidence.

Three to four police officers were deployed to closely monitor the movement.

Chief of the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) Tharit Pengdit gave a remark on the "red-shirts" demand for justice for the dead Japanese photographer, saying the department had several meetings with Japanese diplomats and explained to them the investigation procedures, in which the embassy officers were satisfied.

The anti-government United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD), alias "red-shirt" movement, staged a protracted demonstration during March and May in a bid to ask the government to dissolve the parliament and call fresh election.

As the government decided to forcefully disperse the protesters, an estimated number of 91 people, including security forces, foreign journalists and demonstrators were killed in clashes and nearly 2,000 others were injured. Kazinform cites Xinhua. See www.xinhuanet.com
