Radiation detection equipment commissioned at Astana Int'l airport
ASTANA. November 10. KAZINFORM The National Nuclear Security Administration and the Kazakhstan Customs Control Committee, with participation of the U.S. Ambassador in Kazakhstan Kenneth Fairfax, Deputy Chairman of the Customs Control Committee Igor Ten, and the Ambassador of Norway in Kazakhstan Ole Johan Bjornoy, held a ceremony to commission specialized radiation detection equipment at Astana International Airport.
This ceremony marked the effective ongoing cooperation between the United States and the Republic of Kazakhstan, along with generous financial contributions from New Zealand, Norway, and the Republic of Korea.
The installed equipment will be used to prevent the illicit trafficking of nuclear and other radioactive materials.
