Putin to attend CIS, EurAsEC, customs “troika” summits in Minsk

MOSCOW. KAZINFORM - Russian President Vladimir Putin will travel to Belarus on a working visit on 10 October to attend the meetings of the CIS Council of the Heads of States, the Interstate Council of the Eurasian Economic Community and the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, BelTA reported.

The CIS summit is scheduled to discuss the development of multilateral cooperation in the economic, humanitarian and law enforcement areas. "The parties are set to sign a number of agreements and resolutions and the declaration on the strengthening of the international drug control system. The leaders will adopt the address to the peoples of the Commonwealth of Independent States and the international community in connection with the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945," the Kremlin said.

At the meeting of the Interstate Council of the Eurasian Economic Community, the Presidents of Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan will give the assessment of the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC) and sign an agreement on the termination of this organization as from 1 January 2015. For the 14 years that this organization has been in operation it has made a significant contribution to the promotion of the Eurasian integration, facilitated the formation of the Customs Union, the Single Economic Space of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan, and helped reach the next level of integration, namely the Eurasian Economic Union.

According to the Kremlin press service, the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council will discuss topical issues of trade in goods and services, the movement of capital and labor, financial, institutional and technical aspects connected with the launch of the Eurasian Economic Union on 1 January 2015.
