Prospects of Kazakh-Russian environmental cooperation discussed in Moscow

ASTANA. March 28. KAZINFORM Kazakh Minister of Environmental Protection Nurlan Kapparov held meetings in Moscow on Wednesday, the Kazakh MFA's press service told Kazinform.

The Minister met with Advisor to the Russian President on Climate Change Alexander Bedritsky, Minister of Natural Resources Yuri Trutnev, head of Roshydromet Alexander Frolov, and a group of scientists of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences (RANS).

The meetings discussed the prospects of Kazakh-Russian cooperation in the field of environmental protection, enhancing the interaction between Roshydromet and Kazhydromet.

The issues of promotion of Kazakhstan's initiative of global energy and environmental strategy, which was developed in collaboration with Russian scientists were discussed at a meeting with the scientists of RANS.

As a result of negotiations, the sides expressed mutual interest in further developing and strengthening cooperation in the field of environmental protection.

An agreement was reached that the experts of Kazakhstan in the near future will discuss with their Russian counterparts the issues of cooperation in various fields, in particular, the use of transboundary rivers, the organization of joint monitoring of the impact of launching rocket carriers from the Baikonur cosmodrome on the environmental situation, measures to improve the activity of Kazhydromet.
