Prospects for bringing Kazakh-German relations to a strategic level very high - Horst Kohler
ASTANA. February 9. KAZINFORM As part of his official visit to Germany Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev met with former Federal President of Germany Horst Köhler, the Presidential press service reported.
Nazarbayev noted that Germany actively supported Kazakhstan since the first days of independence.
"We have a big potential of expanding cooperation in political, economic and cultural fields. We maintain high level contacts, parliamentary ties and interaction between the ministries, departments and business community. The quality and content of the agenda of Kazakh-German relations suggest the possibility of our strategic partnership," the Kazakh President emphasized.
Mr. Horst Köhler considers the prospects for bringing bilateral relations to a strategic level very high.
"Germany sees Kazakhstan as a stable country conducting consistent political and economic reforms. The recent President's Address to the nation reflects Kazakhstan's plans to diversify economy, develop small and medium businesses. As practice shows, this is an area to create new jobs," Köhler stressed.
