Presidents of Kazakhstan, China holding talks in Astana

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping who is in Kazakhstan for the official visit are holding talks in the Akorda presidential residence.

Prior to the visit, Deputy Foreign Minister of China Cheng Guoping said the visit to Astana is a way to demonstrate China's political support to Nursultan Nazarbayev, who was reelected President of the Republic of Kazakhstan at the early presidential elections on April 26, 2015. Xi Jinping last visited Kazakhstan in 2013. According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, the Silk Road Economic Belt project and closer economic cooperation will be in the focus of the top-level meeting in Akorda. Two-way trade between Kazakhstan and China soared to $17.2 billion in 2014.
