President urged to speed up modernization of oil refineries

The President noted that the construction of the second phase of ?Kazakhstan-China? oil pipeline will be accomplished this year. The pipeline will connect the Caspian oil producing region with West China. The bitumen plant must be commissioned by 2011. According to the President, it is necessary to accomplish the construction of ?Beineu-Bozoi-Akbulak? gas pipeline that will provide south regions of the country with gas before 2012. Nursultan Nazarbayev also urged to speed up the modernization of oil refineries of the country, bringing their total capacity to 17 mln tons per year. ?By the end of 2014 domestic oil refineries must totally satisfy internal demands for oil products, good quality petrol, jet fuel?, the President said. ?Implementation of these measures will increase the added value of the fuel and energy complex by 30%?, N.Nazarbayev noted.
