President Tokayev tasks to revise mechanism of rural akimats' budget formation and utilization

The President reminded that new budget and tax codes are being developed in Kazakhstan.

"The Government should take into account the peculiarities of the local self-governance reforms. The mechanism of formation and utilization of rural akimats' budgets must be revised too. We need certain propositions to improve financial sustainability of the local authorities. The involvement of maslikhat deputies in the discussion of these draft codes is important. We must ensure correct and effective distribution of local budget funds. I ask the deputies to consider this issue very seriously. The maslikhats should constantly monitor the issues related to budget policy, setting threshold amounts of various payments and charges, development of settlements etc," Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.

The Head of State also reminded that the national budget revenues have not been utilized in full.

"In my recent Address to the Nation, I set a task to the Government and the National Bank to take certain measures in this area. This is a nationwide task, and the branches of state power at all levels must be involved in its fulfillment. We must adhere to the principle "strong regions - a strong country". I am confident that you realize the importance of the tasks set. I am sure that every deputy will contribute to the prosperity of his region," he emphasized.

Previously, the President said that both maslikhats and akimats shall be responsible for social welfare in the regions.
