President tasked Governor of Almaty region to increase volume of production

MATY. July 28. KAZINFORM /Aigul Turysbekova/ President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev gave Governor of Almaty region Ansar Musakhanov the task to increase the volume of production twofold by 2014 and fourfold by 2020. The President gave these instructions within his working trip to Almaty region.

A. Musakhanov noted that the volume of agricultural production in 2010 made KZT 228 bln which was more than 2009 figures by 2,4 percent. The volume of agricultural production for the first six months of this year equals KZT 70 billion which is also 7 billlion more than at the time in 2009. According to him, a number of investment projects included into the Industrialization Map are realized in the region. One of them is a project on growing vegetables using drip irrigation method. In view of the realization of this project a plant on vegetables processing is planned to be built in the region as well.

The Governor of the region also reported on the situation in the region regarding livestock sector.

The President also said that in the period of social and economic decline the number of sheep in Almaty region was just 1.5 million but today the number of sheep is more than 4 million and the number of stock of cattle made 1.3 million.
