President strengthens functions of Ministry of Economic Development and Trade

"The policy on protection of competition, policy on restriction of monopolistic activities, fee, fiscal, customs and budgetary policy are transferred to this Ministry. But their implementation remains in the working specialized departments," N.Nazarbayev noted.

The Head of State informed that the ministry strengthens a function on coordination of regional development, entrepreneurship support. "We established this Ministry with a purpose of its elaboration of a long- and medium-term strategy, coordination of the work of other ministries, as a brain center of the Government, which will think, develop, propose. But it did not become such, it only became the Ministry of Trade," he outlined.

Nazarbayev considers that the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade should ne a central body of planning of strategic medium-term development and coordination of work of all departments.
