President signs new Penal Code

The document is aimed at modernization of the criminal law in order to strengthen fight against crime in modern conditions, increase the level of protection of citizens' rights and interests of the state. In addition, President Nazarbayev inked the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On amendments and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on improvement of criminal law" aimed at bringing the legislation into conformity with the new Penal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Texts of the Code and the Law are published in the press.
