MAGDEBURG. February 10. KAZINFORM /Yuliya Chernova/ Under its rubric ?World mass-media about Kazakhstan? Kazinform briefs its readers on the opinion of German mass media about introduction of amendments to the Kazakh Law ?On elections?.
The Law signed by President Nursultan Nazarbayev says that as minimum two parties will be represented in the Kazakh Parliament henceforth.
On the threshold of the OSCE chairmanship in 2010, Kazakhstan furthersthe development of democracy in the country. In accordance with European standards, 7% barrier for representation in the Parliament is a high level and it is not easy to overcome it. The new Law provides representation of the second party as well, even if it will not cover the barrier. In this regard the new Law provides for representation of the second party, which won less votes, in the Parliament. Next elections will be held in Kazakhstan in 2012.
The reform witnesses the democratic way of Kazakhstan?s development. Kazakhstan will be the first CIS country to chair the OSCE in 2010 that includes development and stimulation of democratic processes and human rights.
