President sets specific tasks on agroindustrial complex development

ASTANA. May 19. KAZINFORM /Aigul Tulekbayeva/ ?The Head of the State determined main directions of the agricultural policy. First of all, it is development of the process industries, which is the weakest link of the agroindustrial complex. Secondly, it is introduction of high technologies, effective use of the funds allocated by KazAgro Holding for investment projects implementation, and effective land and water use?, Kazakh Minister of Agriculture Akhylbek Kurishbayev said at a briefing following the results of a session of the Kazakh Security Council; Kazinform reports.

The Minister noted that only the meat and dairy products, which will be directed to processing, will be subsidized now. The Minister also noted that the state takes measures on regulation of customs-tariff policy for solution of the issues of food security. ?Customs duties will be increased, technical regulations introduced on those positions, by which we provide ourselves with food. We will protect and regulate the domestic market from import?, A.Kurishbayev said. According to the Minister?s data, Kazakhstan imports about 40 percent of milk production, 29 percent ? meat and 43 percent ? fruits and vegetables. According to the Minister, KZT 165 bln were allocated for the Ministry of Agriculture, KZT 27 bln out of them ? for the agricultural problems solution.
