President of Sri Lanka expressed gratitude to Kazakhstan for humanitarian aid
ASTANA. KAZINFORM President of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa received Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Sri Lanka Dulat Kuanyshev on the occasion of completion of his diplomatic mission, the Kazakh MFA's press service said.
In a meeting held on Friday the parties noted the growth of bilateral cooperation seen especially after the state visit of President Mahinda Rajapaksa to Astana in 2012 at the invitation of Kazakhstan Leader Nursultan Nazarbayev. The ambassador informed of Kazakhstan's striving to take a seat of the nonpermanent member of the UN Security Council for 2017-2018, preparations for holding EXPO 2017 in Astana. Highlighting the great role of international initiatives of Nursultan Nazarbayev, President Mahinda Rajapaksa thanked Kazakhstan for humanitarian aid sent to Sri Lanka in response to the last year earthquake.
