President Nazarbayev receives CEO of Kazatomprom
ASTANA. December 5. KAZINFORM Today, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has met with CEO of JSC "Kazatomprom" Vladimir Shkolnik, the president's press service reports.
In the Akorda presidential residence, Mr. Shkolnik reported on the pace of implementation of the presidential instructions regarding Kazatomprom's strategic development as well as large industrial and innovative projects in the sphere of nuclear fuel cycle, chemical sector and renewable energy.
Nursultan Nazarbayev stressed it was important to activate the company's activity in a number of directions, for instance, in production of assemblies for nuclear power plants, alternative energy and rare-earth production.
During the meeting in Astana, Kazatomprom CEO noted Kazakhstan continues to retain the leading position in the uranium mining industry, ensuring 37% of world's output. At the same time the company preserves its financial stability and growth rates, fulfills social obligations and implements its investment program to the full extent. Since 2010 it has channeled nearly KZT 38 billion into development of the social sphere.
Following the meeting, the President of Kazakhstan gave specific instructions on the use of state-of-the-art innovative technologies in the field of renewable energy and processing of rare-earth production by the company.
