"As all participating countries, Kazakhstan made weighty contribution to the Great Victory. Almost 20% of country's population, that is 1,5 million people, went off to war and only half of them returned," the Kazakh President said. "500 of them were given title of the Hero of the Soviet Union," Nursultan Nazarbayev added. The Kazakh leader also noted that the Victory was special for everyone - for veterans and the upcoming generations.
