President Nazarbayev launches construction of Borzhakty - Ersai railway
AKTAU. KAZINFORM - In the framework of his working visit to Mangystau region, President Nursultan Nazarbayev has familiarized with the project on expansion of the Aktau port and launched the construction of a new railway "Borzhakty - Ersai".
"The project provides for increase of cargo volume to 19.5 million tons per year due to construction of the grain terminal with capacity of 1.5 million tons per year, as well as the two terminals for general cargo and containers with the capacity of 1.5 million tons per year. The total area of expanding is 22 ha. The project cost is KZT 38 billion. Completion of Phase 1 of the construction is planned for December 2014", Kazakhstan Temir Zholy informed. "Borzhakty - Ersai" railway line will create an infrastructural framework for the implementation of the project for the construction of a ferry port complex Kuryk and several industrial projects in the coastal zone. "As a result there will be created more than 4 million new jobs," said the Head of State. Over the 5 years the total investment in the development of rail and port infrastructure of Mangystau region has been more than KZT 200 billion.
