President charged MIA to strengthen crime control in Almaty

ASTANA. May 12. KAZINFORM Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev charged the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Department of Internal Affairs of Almaty to strengthen combating the crime and work on preventing offense against the law, the Presidential press service informs.

'The crime rate has not been reduced. There are a lot of facts of street crime, many of them happen with use of firearms. The number of serious crimes (by 7 percent), intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm, rapes, robbery and blackmailing offenses has increased. The crime rate in Almaty is the highest in the country,' the statement reads.
