President addresses to the EAPC forum delegates

ANA. June 25. KAZINFORM /Rizvana Sadykova/ - President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has sent his greetings to the participants of the III Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council (EAPC) Security Forum. The President emphasized the meaningfulness of this large meeting in Astana which is held in the year of the 60th  anniversary of the NATO. «Within the past decades the Alliance has gone through an impressive way from a closed military block to a multi-field cooperation of 50 partner countries", reads the welcoming message. For the first time in the NATO history the EAPC forum is held in Central Asia.

It is remarkable that it is the first time the EAPC forum is held in the country of Central Asia. "For the first time in the history of Alliance the EAPC Forum is held in the Central Asia. The global scale of risks and security challenges of the 21th century dictate the world community the necessity of efforts unification for the search of answers for broad range of threats, both in global and regional security.", President commented.

"The Kazakhstan example is becoming especially relevant and essentially today when the world is threatened by the further expansion of the mass-destruction weapon and the threat of its use by international terrorist organizations.

Kazakhstan makes efforts to the creation of global movement for the world free of nuclear weapon. The other day in Semey I initiated to declare August 29, the day when the nuclear range was closed 18 years ago, the International Day of refusal form mass-destruction weapon. We are ready to make this proposal for consideration by UN.

 Kazakhstan evaluates the dialog "NATO -  Central Asia - Afghanistan" positively. Our country supports the actions of the International group of security assistance in Afghanistan.

 Being an elected OSCE presidency in 2010, Kazakhstan is intending to carry in its endowment in maintenance of peace in whole area of organization and stabilization of dialog between East and West.

The phenomenon of our region is concluded in governments of Central Asia which are members of European and Asian structures simultaneously. This creates the conditions for expansion of stability and security area in whole region of Eurasia.

I hope, the Forum in Astana will assist in searching new approaches for solving relevant problems of global and regional security. Just unifying the efforts we will be able to make world more secure", Nursultan Nazarbayev said addressing the forum delegates.
