Portugal police seize record 760 kg of cocaine

MOSCOW. June 6. KAZINFORM Portuguese law enforcement bodies have seized a record 760 kg (1,675 lbs) of cocaine that was intended to be smuggled in the country, the Finance Ministry said on Friday, Kazinform refers to RIA Novosti.
The ministry said in a statement that the drugs came on board of a ship from Brazil to the port in Lisbon and were hidden in containers with decorative stones intended for a Portuguese company.
A 43-year-old Portuguese citizen has been detained in connection with the confiscated drugs. He is suspected of involvement in an international criminal organization, which used Portugal as a gateway for smuggling drugs to Europe, Kazinform cites RIA Novosti. See www.en.rian.ru for full version.
