Population of Kyrgyzstan exceeds 7.2M people
In January-July 2024, the permanent population of Kyrgyzstan increased by 69.2 thousand people or 1%, and as of Aug. 1 amounted to 7 million 231 thousand people, the National Statistics Committee said, Kabar reports.
Thus, the civil registry offices registered 82.8 thousand newborns, or 19.8 per 1,000 population (19.8 - in January-July 2023) and 19.1 thousand deaths, or 4.6 per 1,000 population (4.4 - in January-July 2023).
As a result, the natural population growth amounted to 63.7 thousand people, or 15.2 per 1,000 population (15.4 - in January-July 2023).
The highest natural population growth in January-July 2024 was observed in Batken, Osh and Jalal-Abad Oblasts, and the lowest - in Bishkek city and Issyk-Kul Oblast.
Notably, by 2030, the global population aged 65 and older is expected to outnumber the youth, with the elderly projected to double the number of children under five.
