Population of Kazakhstan broke through 17 mln in May - Statistics Agency
ASTANA. June 14. KAZINFORM - Kazakhstan's population "stepped over" the 17 millionth critical line in mid-May. This has been announced today at a press briefing reporters by the chairman of the Statistics Agency Alikhan Smailov. "It is obvious that the population has already reached and exceeded 17 million people. Now the population of the republic monthly increases to about 19-20 thousand people, " stated Alikhan Smailov.
If in Kazakhstan by May 1 there were 16 million 990 thousand people, on 1 June this figure will be, respectively, 1.71 million, according to the head of department. "That is, in the second decade of May the population has already crossed the 17 millionth line," he added.
A.Smailov stressed that the agency received the data from the regional registry office, so the information was a month later. "Next time, July 11, we will speak at the briefing about information available as of June 1. Then there is, of course, the number will over 17 million, it is already more " he concluded.
According to the Statistics Agency in January-April, Kazakhstan registered 127.7 thousand of births, which is 1% more than in the corresponding period of the last year.
