Pope Francis' condition estimated as stable
Pope Francis “rested well during the night, he woke up shortly after 8:00," Agenzia Nova reported citing the Vatican press office.
In the day of yesterday Pope Francis' clinical conditions "have remained stable. He has not shown episodes of respiratory failure or bronchospasm", as reported in the evening bulletin of the Holy See press office regarding the health of the Pope, hospitalized since February 14 at the Gemelli Polyclinic.
The Pope "remained afebrile, always alert, cooperative with therapies and oriented. This morning - the bulletin continues - he switched to high-flow oxygen therapy and performed respiratory physiotherapy.
Tonight, as planned, non-invasive mechanical ventilation will be resumed until tomorrow morning.
The prognosis remains reserved. During the day he alternated prayer and rest and this morning he received the Eucharist.
As reported, in mid-February, 88-year-old pontiff was admitted to the Agostino Gemelli Polyclinic Hospital in Rome to undergo several tests and continue treatment for his ongoing bout of bronchitis.
