PM Bektenov tasks to speed up the process of creating national air freight carrier
Today, at the Government’s weekly meeting, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov set a number of tasks regarding aviation sector development and creation of international air hubs in the territory of Kazakhstan, Kazinform News Agency reports.
Bektenov emphasized that these six major airports must be competitive in the international arena.
“For this reason, development of infrastructure and conditions for cargo carriers will be in focus. The next stage is to develop multimodality of these airports in line with all international standards, where cargo is delivered by different types of vehicles. This work should be accompanied with ground infrastructure modernization and building roads and railways towards the air hubs,” he said.
The Prime Minister pointed out the need to implement advanced digital technologies in cargo escorting and handling.
“Our objective is to double air freight through Kazakhstan by 2028,” he stressed and tasked the Ministry of Transport to speed up the establishment of a national air freight carrier, which will be able to fill a niche in the international market.
Earlier, it was reported that Kazakhstan plans to attract $2.1bln of private investment to build international air hubs
