Pierre Offan: Putting the Kashagan oil field into operation is a complex process
ASTANA. June 30. KAZINFORM- Due to the scale and complexity of the project launch of Kashagan is a sequential process that involves more than 40 steps preceding the commencement of production and gradual entering the target level. This was stated during the presentation of the project to President Nursultan Nazarbayev and Prime Minister David Cameron, who were visiting Bolashak plant in Atyrau region, by the Managing Director of "North Caspian Operating Company" Pierre Offan.
As announced by him, the need for such a complex, gradual process is due to the fact that after the construction of each object there is a need for verification of safe operation in accordance with the technical specifications and design provisions, employee training, and monitoring the serviceability of all production systems and their components.
After successful completion of all phases the integrated system will get first oil and gas from a depth of 4200 meters below the North Caspian. Oil will come from the eight wells located on an artificial island called "A". Wells and piping systems are ready for production, while offshore production facilities and complex oil and gas on "D" island are in the final stages of commissioning.
