Petrochemical industry development to let create over 19,000 jobs - Energy Minister
Kazakhstan plans to create over 19,000 jobs as a result of it petrochemical industry development, Minister of Enegry Yerlan Akkenzhenov said at the Government’s weekly meeting today, Kazinform News Agency reports.
He noted that petrochemical industry development remains one of priority areas of the country’s oil and gas sector’s reorientation from a resource-based model to the manufacture of high value added products.
He emphasized that despite enormous resources and infrastructure, the potential of processing sector, in particular, in petrochemical sector, has not fully utilized. “This results in a number of strategic challenges,” he stressed.
To overcome these challenges, in October 2024, the Ministry of Energy approved the Road Map for the Development of Petrochemical Industry for 2024-2030. The document includes six key areas and 34 activities aimed at boosting the sector.
“Among them is the implementation of six major investment projects worth a total of $15 billion. Their implementation will let create some 3,500 permanent and 16,000 temporary jobs at the construction stage,” he concluded.
