Path to Europe program of special importance for Kazakhstan: conference in Almaty

ALMATY. March 1. KAZINFORM /Daniyar Sikhimbayev/ IIV International Scientific Conference "Path to Europe" Program: cooperation model of EU and Central Asia" has been held in Almaty today. The organizers are the Kazakh-German University and the Kazakh Institute of Strategic Research under the President of Kazakhstan.

The participants of the conference - scientists, diplomats, political analysts - discussed the issues of Kazakhstan's OSCE chairmanship, development of the country within "Path to Europe" program, economic and political interaction between Kazakhstan and Germany. According to Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany Gerold Amelung, successful work was held in 2009 within the Year of Kazakhstan in Germany. "We intend to present modern Germany in Kazakhstan in 2010 and demonstrate a wide range of filed for interaction. These activities are aimed at giving impetus for development of current good relations between our countries", he said. As the Consul noted, the conference is one of the first activities scheduled for this year.

"Path to Europe" program is of special importance for Kazakhstan. It defines strategic partnership with Europe and with Germany. This connected with the fact that the Kazakh Government builds great plans on rapprochement to the European standards and Europe as a whole in many sectors of the economy and country's development", G.Amelung said.
