It is planned that the accelerator complex will be designed by 2015. The new accelerator will provide for more effective research on the use of hydrogen energy. Scientists have been working on the issue for about 60 years. According to the participants of the conference, the accelerator is an installation that allows carrying out the research in the field of nuclear fusion and high densities. Its creation will give a new impetus to the development of nuclear physics in Kazakhstan. Construction of the facility will be based on a similar model existing at the National Laboratory in Berkeley, but with additional features. The complex will have the technical parameters on the level of advanced experimental facilities in the world. The accelerator complex will attract foreign researchers in the field of nuclear physics from around the world and give an opportunity to train local scientists. "Berkeley will participate in the design phase and the implementation phase of the project. One of the objectives of Berkeley Lab`s participation is technology transfer to Kazakhstan, in particular, the use of technologies that have been used to create a similar setup here in Berkeley during the construction of the accelerator. And of course, these technologies will help Kazakh specialists to learn how to operate similar facilities", explained Joe Hwang, physicist, Lawrence Berkeley National laboratory.
