Over 47,000 girls vaccinated against HPV in Kazakhstan

More than 47,000 girls have been vaccinated against human papilloma virus in Kazakhstan, according to Minister of Healthcare of Kazakhstan Akmaral Alnazarova, Kazinform News Agency reports.

"The vaccination is carried out as per the schedule, with the informed consent of parents - this is a mandatory requirement. We explain to both the girls and their parents the importance of the vaccination. More than 47,000 girls have already been vaccinated. We do not have a specific plan here,” Minister Alnazarova said.

In mid-September, Kazakhstan launched nationwide vaccination of girls against the human papilloma virus (HPV), the main cause of cervical cancer.
