Over 315 thousand signatures collected in support of referendum on extension of First Kazakh President's powers
UST KAMENOGORSK. December 30. KAZINFORM /Lyudmila Malko/ 314, 621 signatures powers have already been collected as of 15:00, December 30, 2010 in support of the nationwide referendum concerning prolongation of the First Kazakh President's powers. These data have been announced by Yerlan Sydykov, Chairman of the Initiative Group at a final press conference in Ust Kamenogorsk today.
According to him, 18, 429 people backed this idea in Akmola oblast, 16, 314 - in Aktobe oblast; 33, 232 - in Almaty oblast; 10, 575 - in Atyrau oblast; 34, 560 - in East Kazakhstan oblast; 18, 429 - in Zhambyl oblast; 15, 106 - in West Kazakhstan oblast; 31, 117 - in Karaganda oblast; 14, 200 - in Kyzylorda oblast; 21, 752 - in Kostanay oblast; 9, 064 - in Mangystau oblast; 18, 429 - in Pavlodar oblast; 15, 710 - in North Kazakhstan oblast; 10, 025 - in South Kazakhstan oblast; 12, 689 - in Astana and 19, 940 - in Almaty cities.
Member of the Initiative Group, Academician Mikhail Panin said the Group would continue collecting the signatures till January 10-11, 2011, "because people still come and express their support to the referendum". By preliminary estimation, their number will exceed 2 mln.
