OSCE welcomes Kazakh President's decision to cancel referendum - Azubalis
VIENNA-VILNIUS. February 1. KAZINFORM /Timur Bekturganov/ OSCE welcomes the decision of Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev to cancel the referendum on prolongation of the President's powers.
OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Audronius Azubalis said it on Monday, January 31, in Vilnius.
As the press service of the OSCE in Vienna informs, during his telephone conversation with Kazakhstan's Secretary of State and Foreign Minister Kanat Saudabayev Mr. Azubalis praised the initiative of our President on holding early Presidential election.
"At the OSCE Summit in Astana we confirmed our commitment to the key obligations within the framework of the organization, including those on holding democratic election in line with international standards. These obligations must be fulfilled by all participating states. I express my support to the Kazakhstani leadership in this issue", A. Azubalis emphasized.
