OSCE Summit in Astana shows world community's recognition of Kazakhstan's int'l authority

ALMATY. September 22. KAZINFORM /Daniyar Sikhimbayev/ Kazakhstanis positively appraised the fact that Kazakhstan presides in the OSCE. The survey on 'Social climate in major cities of Kazakhstan' says.

The survey was held by the sociologists in Almaty, Astana and all the regional centers of the country. Two questions were asked to the respondents about the presidency of Kazakhstan in the OSCE.

Around 40 percent of people believe that the status of Kazakhstan entered a new level at the international arena. Besides, one in ten thinks that the presidency promotes democratic reforms and development of political rights and freedoms in the country.

About 8 percent think that it attracts more investments to the economy of country due to the presidency. Around 4 percent did not know about Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the OSCE.

It should be mentioned that a year ago half of people did not know what the abbreviation OSCE stood for. Therefore it is an achievement, the achievement of the media as well.

Another question was about the activity of Kazakhstan as the presiding country in the OSCE, in particular about the upcoming Summit in Astana. 39.6 percent of respondents think that holding of the OSCE Summit in Astana will be a positive moment of the Presidency and country.

Holding the OSCE Summit in Astana shows that the world community recognizes the international authority of Kazakhstan.
