OSCE Economic and ecological forum focused on migration

ASTANA. January 22. KAZINFORM The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe has held the first part of the XVII economic ecological forum in Vienna, Austria, Kazinform reports.

The two-day conference brought together over two hundred participants representing state bodies, non-governmental organizations and business-circles of the member countries and international structures. Problems of migration management and its interdependence with the economic, social and ecological policy were in spotlight of the forum. ?It is evident that the global financial crisis will exert great influence on the lives of millions of migrants on the OSCE space that in turn will impact on stability and security in the region?, Secretary General of the OSCE Marc Perrin de Brichambaut said in his welcoming speech. Vice Minister of Labor and Social protection of Kazakhstan Serik Abdenov, who participated in the forum, highlighted great role of the OSCE in discussion and development of solution of the urgent problems of migration and elaboration of measures in protection of the migrants? rights. Within the forum the Kazakh delegation had meetings in the Federal Ministry of Economy and Labor and with the heads of the delegations from the Czech Republic, Romania and Belarus. Secretary General of the Eurasian Economic Community Tair Mansurov delivered a speech at the forum. He told about main directions of the Organization?s work. The participants expressed interest in integration processes on the EurAsEC space, transformation of the economies and joint actions of the member-states on overcoming the consequences of the global financial crisis. The second part of the annual economic and ecological forum is scheduled for May 18-20 in Athens.
