OSCE Chairman's personal envoys visited Brussels
BRUSSELS. June 3. KAZINFORM /Dimash Syzdykov/ On the initiative of the European Parliament three personal envoys of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office have visited Brussels on June 1-2, 2010. Within the visit they got familiarized themselves with the measures of the EU on ensuring tolerance in the EU member-countries.
As Adil Ahmetov, Personal Envoy of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office on Combating Intolerance and Discrimination against Muslims, said: "The meetings conducted in the European institutes were quite fruitful, since the European institutes and the OSCE pursue the same aims in many spheres. These organizations complement each other».
The Senator quoted the European Parliament Chairman Jerzy Buzek, who had noted that "all of us should pay attention not to the difference among civilizations, cultures and religions but look for the common values among them".
As A. Akhmetov added, the EU parliamentarians had good knowledge of Kazakhstan and its efforts including those taken within the OSCE, therefore they positively evaluated our activity and experience in ensuring tolerance.
Personal Envoy of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office on Combating Intolerance and Discrimination against Muslims Adil Ahmetov, Personal Representative on Combating Anti-Semitism Andrew Baker and Mario Mauro, Personal Representative on Combating Racism, Xenophobia and Discrimination held meetings with European Parliament Chairman Jerzy Karol Buzek, his deputies, heads of committees on internal problems and human rights, including representatives of non-governmental organizations.
