OSCE adequately responds to new security threats and challenges: Marc Perrin de Brichambaut
VIENNA. October 19. KAZINFORM /Timur Bekturganov/ "The OSCE Review Conference will discuss both current achievements and the ways of further development of the Organization. We need to further develop and strengthen the Organization for effectively countering new security threats and challenges", OSCE Secretary Genera Marc Perrin de Brichambaut said at the opening of the Review Conference in Vienna yesterday, October 18.
"Since holding of the last OSCE Summit in 1999 new transnational threats demanding urgent and effective joint response of the OSCE and its partners arose", the Secretary General said.
M. de Brichambaut laid emphasis on the issue of speedy settlement of the conflict in Afghanistan and the readiness of the Organization to keep on assisting in stabilization of the situation in the country.
