Only half of Atyrau rgn populated areas provided with drinking water, says governor

ATYRAU. December 27. KAZINFORM Only 51.5% of populated areas in Atyrau region are provided with drinking water, according to Governor Baktykozha Izmukhambetov.
Thus, the current head of the region Izmukhambetov refuted the information released by the office of ex-Governor of Atyrau region Bergei Ryskaliyev. Ryskaliyev's administration spent billions of tenge on water supply support and claimed 97% of Atyrau region villages was provided with drinking water.
"By 2015 we hope to provide 90% of those villages with drinking water. All necessary works on construction or renovation of water lines and waste reduction facilities are underway in the region," Mr. Izmukhambetov said.
