Olympic flag to be brought by sailing vessel to Mexico, by air to RF
VANCOUVER. February 27. KAZINFORM The flag of the Winter Olympic Games, which will be transferred to Russia, will be brought by the Russian sailing vessel Kruzenshtern to Mexico, from where it will be carried by an Aeroflot plane to Russia, said Russian Vice-Premier Dmitry Kozak aboard the Kruzenshtern on Friday, Kazinform refers to Itar-Tass.
Kozak informed the captain about the decision to bring the flag aboard the vessel late on February 28 after the official ceremony of the flag transfer to the Russian delegation.
The Kruzenshtern crew will bring the flag to the Mexican port of Acapulco. Then, a Russian embassy vehicle will carry the Winter Olympics flag with accompanying Russian Olympic Committee representatives to Mexico City, from where an Aeroflot plane will carry it to Russia's territory.
Kozak noted the contribution of the Russian sailing vessel crew to the work of the Russian delegation in Vancouver and said there were plans for the Kruzenshtern crew to participate in the work at the Sochi Olympics in 2014, Kazinform cites Itar-Tass. See www.itar-tass.com for full version.
