Nursultan Nazarbayev visits 'Taraz -Arena' palace of sports
ASTANA. November 21. KAZINFORM - President Nursultan Nazarbayev during his working visit to Zhambyl region has visited the Palace of Sports called "Taraz - Arena", the press service of the President informs.
During the visit President saw a unique complex, as well as he had a talk to athletes from different sports disciplines, wishing them success and new victories.
"Taraz -Arena" Palace, designed for 2,5 thousand people, will provide residents of the regional center with opportunities to go in for 18 sports. In the five-storey building there are 13 rooms for general fitness and athletic training, practicing sports and ballroom dancing, sports games (volleyball, basketball, indoor soccer, tennis), swimming pools and boxing rings.
Around the complex there is a system of open soccer fields, volleyball and basketball courts, tennis courts, and a parking lot for 260 cars. For the convenience of people with disabilities it is installed with ramps and accompanying handrail.
The Palace can receive sports events of regional, national and international importance in a professional manner.
Construction work regarding the sports complex, which is located in a newly built neighborhood named "Baiterek" in an area of 7.5 hectares, started in 2011. Its construction involved more than 35 subcontracting companies, 360 employees, the greater part of them are locals. The cost of the project amounted to 4.8 billion tenge.
