Nurlan Nigmatulin elected Majilis Speaker

ASTANA. January 20. KAZINFORM /Askar Bimendin/ Nurlan Nigmatulin was Friday unanimously elected as Chairman of the Majilis. He was the only candidate nominated by MPs.
Nurlan Nigmatulin, born 1962, graduated from Karaganda Polytechnic Institute.
Nigmatulin, PhD in Political Science, worked as deputy akim of Astana (1999-2002), vice minister of transport and communications of Kazakhstan (2002-2004), deputy chief of Kazakh Presidential Administration (since June 2004), akim of Karaganda region (2006-2009),
On 19 November 2009 he became first deputy chairman of Nur Otan People's Democratic Party, a position he currently still holds.
