Number of Kazakhstan Internet users exceeded 5 mln people

Minister of Communications and Information Askar Zhumagaliyev has said it at the Kazakhstan's editors-in-chief forum today.

A.Zhumagaliyev analyzed the current situation in the mass media field and Internet sphere of Kazakhstan. According to him, more than 2,600 mass media are functioning in the country and the number of Internet users in Kazakhstan exceeded 5 mln people.

"Today 2,685 mass media are operating in the country. They are represented by newspapers and magazines (1,441 editions), electronic media (233 - 20 television channels, 43 radio companies and 134 operators of cable television), information agencies (11)," the Minister said.

"Given to Internet development, the number of Internet users in Kazakhstan exceeded 5 mln people," he added.
