Nuclear weapon states should set pace of reduction of weapons of mass destruction - K. Tokayev
VIENNA. February 25. KAZINFORM /Timur Bekturganov/ Nuclear weapon states should be an example of reduction of weapons of mass destruction. Kazakhstan refused to have all the nuclear arsenal it had on the first days of its independence. Presently, Kazakhstan exerts every effort to ensure success of global campaigns on disarmament.
Senate Speaker of Kazakhstan, Vice President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said it at the sitting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE on Thursday in Vienna.
The representation of the head of the Kazakhstan's delegation dedicated to the most relevant aspects of international efforts to ensure the nuclear-free world was the main topic of the session. The work in this direction is a priority of the Organization and talks on these issues are of great interest for the member states of the Organization.
Vice President of the OSCE PA Kassym-Jomart Tokayev is to speak today at the sitting of the key body of the Assembly - the Standing Committee.
