Nuclear talks with Iran end on positive note, next talk to be held in May
ISTANBUL. April 15. KAZINFORM The first meeting in 15 months between Iran and the world's big powers ended Saturday with both sides hailing it as a key step toward further negotiations for easing international fears that Iran may use its nuclear program to develop nuclear weapons.
Iran and the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council -- the United States, Russia, China, Britain and France -- plus Germany agreed to meet again on May 23 in Baghdad, Kyodo reports.
The two sides focused on what they said was the positive tone of the talks, in contrast to the previous round held in January 2011, which broke up with no progress after Iranian negotiators refused to even consider discussing the issue of uranium enrichment.
